Gowanus

Gowanus was once a very industrial neighborhood, all the converted warehouse spaces are a reminder of its industrious past. It also has a famous, historic (toxic) canal and industrial waterway. Despite industrial remnants, the canal has become a focal point for community efforts and environmental initiatives.

Today, you’ll find Gowanus is a thriving creative community attracting artists for its spacious studio spaces, trendy eateries, new residential developments, and a high concentration of Brooklyn breweries within the neighborhood.

Neighborhood Highlights:

  • Entertainment venues Littlefield and The Bell House offer a variety of performances and cultural events in converted 19th-century warehouses.
  • The Gowanus neighborhood has a handful of local craft breweries including Threes Brewing, Other Half Brewing Company, Wild East Brewing Co., Strong Rope Brewery, and Finback Brooklyn.
