Prospect Lefferts Gardens

Prospect Lefferts Gardens, also known as PLG for short,  is characterized by tree-lined streets and a wealth of historic brownstones dating back to the early 20th century. Nestled next to the grand Prospect Park, part of the Flatbush and Little Caribbean neighborhoods.

Visitors are drawn to its Caribbean influences and culinary scene as well as historic landmarks connected to Prospect Park including Lefferts Historic House and Brooklyn Botanic Garden.

  • Visitors can enter Prospect Park from Prospect Lefferts Gardens and have immediate access to LeFrak Center at Lakeside, which is where you’ll find the ice skating rink and roller rink in the summer, Prospect Park Lake, the gorgeous Beaux-Arts Boathouse, and Smorgasburg, a summer food event that takes place on the weekends in Breeze Hill.
  • Lefferts Historic House is a historic landmark and museum within Prospect Park, constructed around 1783, this was once the residence of both enslaved individuals and the family of Continental Army Lieutenant Pieter Lefferts.
  • Prospect Park Zoo is nestled in the heart of Prospect Park and traces its roots back to the late 19th century. The zoo has evolved into a modern and conservation-focused destination filled with a diverse array of animal habitats.
