Coney Island is personally one of my favorite neighborhoods because of all the nostalgia around this legendary seaside neighborhood in New York City! 

The amusement parks, boardwalk, and beach here have lured visitors since the late 19th century. During the warmer season, you can ride iconic and century-old rides like the Cyclone rollercoaster and Deno’s Wonder Wheel. Save room for a Nathan’s Famous hot dog!

  • The annual 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest is one of the other exciting summertime events that invite competitive eaters from all over the globe to devour and impressive quantity of hot dogs against the backdrop of the original Nathan’s Famous location! Gathering tens of thousands of spectators and more who tune in on TV to this unconventional distinct American Independence Day tradition.
  • Brave participants welcome the New Year with a daring leap into the frigid Atlantic waters at the annual New Year’s Day Polar Plunge with members of the oldest winter swimming club in the United States, the Coney Island Polar Bear Club while raising funds for local causes.
  • Visit one of the oldest continually operating aquariums in the United States at the New York Aquarium in Coney Island year-round. The aquarium has played a pivotal role in marine conservation and education, with a focus on protecting local marine ecosystems.
