Boerum Hill Restaurants to Check Out

Grand Army

Address: 336 State Street

Like so many restaurants in Boerum Hill, I was of course initially drawn to Grand Army for their very lovely facade. They also have some great outdoor dining and a long bar inside that is a great spot for grabbing a drink and a small bite on your way home from work or meeting friends!

The menu is seafood-heavy, as it should be since this is their specialty. The raw bar is ogne of my favorites in the city. They also make an incredible sourdough bread and homemade butter, which is a great accompaniment to all your seafood.

Grand Army is open every day for dinner until late and open earlier in the afternoon on the weekends. Reservations are accepted and they offer both indoor and outdoor dining.

Rucola

Address: 190 Dean Street

Rucola is one of those places that truly has something for everyone. This is meant quite literally since they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and have brunch on the weekends. That being said, the menu is diverse but also covers all the classics that you expect at an Italian joint.

As a great spot for brunch in Boerum Hill, you have probably seen their brunch featured all over Instagram. Yes, it is basic but the avocado toast is a top choice. In addition, the breakfast sandwich with eggs, cheese, and arugula is the perfect start to any day. If you want something sweet, you know I’m going to recommend the french toast.

As far as dinner goes, the pasta is the standout. They change with the seasons and while there aren’t a ton of choices on the menu, they are always handmade and always delicious. If pasta isn’t your thing, the chicken or whatever fish is on the menu is always a great choice at this amazing restaurant in Boerum HIll.

Rucola is open every day from early till late. They close between lunch and dinner so make sure to check the hours before you visit. Both indoor dining and outdoor dining are available and reservations are available for parties of 6 or more. They also offer a call ahead wait list! Not only does Rucola offer the best brunch in Boerum Hill, they also are one of the best restaurants in Boerum Hill overall.

French Louie

Address: 320 Atlantic Avenue

French Louie comes from the same owners as Buttermilk Channel (one of the best restaurants in Cobble Hill, specifically for their incredible pancakes) so you already know French Louie is one of the best restaurants in Boerum Hill. Not to mention, the vibes are great, complete with a great Brooklyn outdoor patio and cozy booths inside.

As mentioned below, this restaurant in Boerum Hill serves brunch and dinner with a focus on French cuisine. For dinner, their steak frites rival some bistros in Paris. They also have a baguette and butter, which is enough in itself to make me want to come back again and again.

French Louie is open every day for lunch and dinner but they do not serve lunch on Mondays. They also close for a few hours between lunch and dinner so make sure you check the hours before you visit this incredible restaurant in Boerum Hill. Brunch is served on the weekends and reservations are accepted. Indoor and outdoor dining is available.

This is also one of my favorite spots for best brunch in Brooklyn too!

Mile End Delicatessen

Address: 97 Hoyt Street

Mile End Delicatessen is a Jewish deli named for and modeled after a Jewish neighborhood in Montreal, Canada, which has a strong Jewish population and some great Jewish food hence why Mile End is one of the best restaurants in Boerum HIll.

Because of its Canadian roots, the poutine is a must-order for the table. They have a lot of different varieties and options so come with friends and try several. In addition, it’s a Jewish deli so bagels and lox, matzo ball soup and latkes. You can literally order this any time of day and you will leave deliriously happy.

Mile High Deli is open every day from early until late serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. They accept reservations and offer both indoor and outdoor dining options.

Bacchus

Address: 409 Atlantic Avenue

Another amazing French-focused restaurant in Boerum Hill is Bacchus. The vibes are great, most specifically the outdoor dining that looks like a cafe straight out of Paris.

For brunch, Bacchus offers a bottomless brunch for two hours. There are several options to choose from on the menu but for the perfect sweet and savory combination you cannot go wrong with French onion soup and French toast (are you sensing a theme here?)

For dinner, all the French classics are on the menu and all are a good choice. Not to mention, on Tuesday nights they have all you can eat mussels!

Bacchus is open every day for dinner and serves some of the best brunch in Boerum Hill on the weekends. Reservations are accepted and both indoor and outdoor dining is available.

Sottocasa

Address: 298 Atlantic Avenue

There is definitely no shortage of incredible pizza in Brooklyn, let alone New York City but Sottocasa should be one hundred perfect on your list, especially if you find yourself looking for a great restaurant in Boerum Hill. They also have a second location in Harlem.

For food, pizza is clearly the star. A favorite is the margherita because really you shouldn’t be making pizza if you can’t make a classic well. Other standouts are the Salsiccia and the Diavola. They also have great focaccia and salads to start.

Sottocasa is open every day for dinner and brunch on the weekends. Reservations are not accepted but the wait at this restaurant in Boerum Hill typically isn’t too long. Both indoor and outdoor dining are available.

Bedouin Tent

Address: 405 Atlantic Avenue

Just like there are with pizza restaurants in Brooklyn, there are some amazing Middle Eastern restaurants in Brooklyn. Bedouin Tent is one of those places and one of the best restaurants in Boerum Hill.

Bedouin Tent has all the classic Middle Eastern specialties including zaatar bread, hummus, stuffed grape leaves, tabouleh and of course falafel. In fact, their falafel sandwich is perfect (just make sure to add hummus). The best part about Bedouin Tent? They are completely BYOB.

Bedouin Tent is open every day for lunch and dinner. They do not offer reservations but have both indoor and outdoor dining available to eat at one of the best restaurants in Boerum Hill.

Cuban Shack

Address: 75 Hoyt Street

Cuban Shack is a newcomer to the Boerum Hill neighborhood but has already made a point to prove that it is here to stay as one of the best restaurants in Boerum Hill.

The menu is small but mighty, which is okay since all you need to know is to order the Cuban sandwich with a side of rice and beans and sweet plantains. I can’t say I’ve tried anything else (I’m sure everything is delicious) but I just can’t come to a Cuban spot and not get a Cuban sandwich.

Cuban Shack is open every day for lunch and dinner. Reservations are accepted and both indoor and outdoor dining are available.

The Little Sweet Cafe

Address: 77 Hoyt Street

Maybe one of the best things about the Little Sweet Cafe is that it truly still feels like a Little Sweet Cafe. They don’t have a website, the menu is hard to find online and they don’t allow you to sit and work but actually encourage you to enjoy your meal. The vibes are also immaculate and they offer some of the best brunch in Boerum Hill.

As far as food, the pastries and crepes are the best things to order here. There are several options to choose from, from sweet to savory. They also have delicious coffee, chai and tea.

The Little Sweet Cafe does not accept reservations but both indoor and outdoor seating are available.

The Soul Spot

Address: 302 Atlantic Avenue

Another one of the best restaurants in Boerum Hill is the Soul Spot, a small restaurant that has some of the best soul food in Brooklyn. They even offer a Vegetarian meal option full of all the best sides they have to offer!

Depending on your preference, everyone can find something at the Soul Spot. You can’t go wrong with the southern fried chicken and just about every side you can fit in your stomach. They seriously have it all from incredible mac and cheese to sweet corn and okra, each one more delicious than the last.

The Soul Spot is open every day for breakfast and dinner. Indoor dining is available and they have a few options for spots outdoors. Reservations are not accepted.
