Keep in mind, depending on when you’re booking or how far in advance you’re booking these prices can fluctuate, this is one of the most expensive cities in the world after all. Also, keep in mind that to save money, you will want to travel to New York City off peak season, the most affordable time to visit the city is January and February. Most New York City hotels charge mandatory resort fees or facility fees too on top of the rate when booking. It’s an annoying fee that is for some reason not baked into the price and added on after the fact. When it comes to affordable hotels in Brooklyn, the Penny Hotel is one of the better options in my opinion. That being said, depending on what time of year you’re visiting, the rates can really fluctuate and you can only really get a rate of around $200 off season.
The best part about The Penny is that it’s a cool boutique hotel in a cool neighborhood! You’re steps away from plenty of great places to eat, bars, cafes, shopping, and it’s a super easy commute into Manhattan.
Don’t miss check out out El Nico, which is one of the best rooftop bars in Brooklyn at the rooftop of The Penny too. You don’t even have to stay here to want to come and dance the night away at this cool rooftop lounge with great views!
The rooms here are really creative and fun with pops of color and art in each of the industrial chic rooms. Not to mention, this is in an excellent location for nightlife, activities, shopping, dining, and cafes in one of Brooklyn’s coolest neighborhoods. Pointe Plaza Hotel
2 Franklin Ave, South Williamsburg
Located in the southern region of Williamsburg, —Pointe Plaza Hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and just brief (two block) walk from Myrtle Avenue, where guests will be treated to many local shops and eateries connecting to the beautiful neighborhood of Clinton Hill. The location is also located near the heart of Brooklyn’s Hasidic community and isn’t your typical touristy stay.
And if you want to further enrich your stay by taking a trip to Manhattan, the Lorimer Street station for the M and J trains are about a 15-minute walk away. Pointe is also one of the few cheap hotels in Brooklyn that offers a free shuttle bus to nearby subway stations, which is a really nice perk.

Condor Hotel is about an 11 minute walk from the G train and an 18-minute walk from J and M, with the latter being your best way to get to Manhattan.
You’re only a 15-minute walk to Transmitter Brewery, Russ & Daughters Brooklyn, and only a few minutes further from Rooftop Reds (rooftop winery with amazing skyline views) and Kings County Distillery.
And like Pointe Plaza, Condor Hotel is a few steps away from Myrtle Ave and Flushing Ave where you’ll have access to many favorite local spots as well as near the Brooklyn Hasidic enclave and community.

NY Moore Hostel is an extremely budget friendly hotel in Brooklyn given its great location in Bushwick, it’s actually a hostel. For anyone familiar with traveling abroad, hostels are popular accommodation style that’s more social and typically affordable as guests have the options to bunk with strangers.
In my 20s I did alot of European travel through hostels and was pleasantly surprised how fun they were and made a lot of friends that way! That being said, hostels tend to be popular among young adults or those who are used to shared accommodations (although private rooms are available too).
In this highly popular neighborhood, guests are treated to a vibrant nightlife and unique street art with Bushwick Collective. Not to mention, this hotel also pays homage to the famous street art in this neighborhood with splashes of colors, murals, and graffiti adorning the walls here.
NY Moore Hostel is also just a short walk from many subway lines—most notably the Morgan Ave stop for the L line which is only a 14-minute ride to Manhattan’s Union Square. Oh, and it would be criminal not to mention that you’re one block away from Roberta’s, one of the most famous pizza places in Brooklyn and the entire city!
This hostel offers shared dorm options or private rooms, all with colorful graffiti and street art (some by famous artists too!). The dorm rooms are extremely spacious with high ceilings, and each guest is given their own locker. The private rooms are equally spacious with the added bonus of providing private bathrooms.
